Some coasters I finished earlier this year and never posted.

A woman called

I am a woman called. I am a woman who has been called by God to full-time vocational ministry. There, I said it.

Why does it feel like I am "coming out" as a Christian woman, stating that I have been called by God to something far bigger than I can ever begin to imagine?

As of January 2013, at the age of 47 and with not one but TWO Master's degrees from Seminary:

• I have never heard a woman preach
• I have been to one wedding where a woman pastor presided
• I have gone to a Methodist Church pastor, who is a woman, seeking counsel
• attended seminary with many wonderful women who were gifted as pastors, but would never admit it to anyone, probably not even themselves.

That, my friend, is a short list. Yet, it is the total extent of my interaction with women in ministry.

In order to broaden this spectrum of experience with women in ministry, my goals for 2013 are:

• to visit 6 church services where a woman preaches
• to become involved in the BWIM (Baptist Women in Ministry)
• to blog what is on my heart as a woman called.

This blog is being started as a chronicle of my struggle as a woman called to ministry. My hope is that this blog will, in God's time, be totally transformed into something very different. My prayer is that this blog will be a reflection of a total transformation in me.
